What is alcohol and how does it affect the body?

Alcohol is found in wine, beer, and some other drinks. It is made when yeast is mixed with grains, fruits, or vegetables.
When a person drinks alcohol, it goes into the bloodstream. The heart pumps the blood through the body and carries the alcohol to the brain.
Alcohol changes the way the brain processes information and even blocks some of the messages trying to get to the brain.
Even a little amount of alcohol causes brain changes. More alcohol causes bigger changes. For example, a person who drinks too much may have trouble walking and talking. They may feel dizzy and throw up. They can not drive safely.
