What are birth parents?

Birth parents, or biological parents, are the mommy and daddy who made the baby. All babies grow in a mommy's uterus (a place near the mommy's tummy) and all babies are born.

A birth mom is the woman who carried and cared for her baby while he or she grew in her uterus. Most birth parents raise and care for their child after he or she is born.

However, birth parents sometimes must make the very difficult decision to let someone else adopt and raise their child because they aren't able to. Maybe the birth parents are too young to care for any baby at the time their baby is born. They might also not have the support system or money to give their baby the food he or she needs or the proper care babies require.
