What is the president's job?

Browse → World → Government

In many countries, the “main” leader (chief executive) is called the president. Being president is an important job, and the person who serves as president is usually chosen by the people in an election where everyone votes!

The president has different jobs according to what country he or she is the president of, but for the most part, the president’s duties include creating and enforcing laws, representing the country to the rest of the world, and appointing other leaders such as judges and heads of government departments and organizations.

In some countries, such as the United States, the duties of the president are split or shared with other parts of the government. This helps prevent a country from having a leader with too much power, so that decisions have to be agreed upon by more than just one person! – Do you know the name of the president of the United States? What about the name of the president or main leader in any other countries??
