Fish are animals that are vertebrates (they have a backbone), cold-blooded, and live in the water. Fish lay eggs, and generally, fish also usually have scales and fins, tails, and gills instead of lungs.
There have been fish living on Earth for over 450 million years. They live in bodies of water all over the world, from freshwater lakes to big salty oceans!

How many kinds of fish are you able to name? There are over 24,000 known species! Some types you might be familiar with include trout, salmon, goldfish, catfish, flounder, snapper, bass, tuna, sharks, and more!
Do you know anyone who keeps fish at home in an aquarium? If so, what kinds of fish does he or she keep? Draw your own special aquarium, and put lots of different kinds of fish inside! What kinds of fish did you put into your aquarium, and why? What colors are they? What are their names?
