This depends on the type of shark. Many sharks that live close to the bottom (like angel sharks and nurse sharks) and most small sharks (like sharpnose sharks and smooth dogfish) move only a few hundred kilometers during their life. Others like bull sharks, silky sharks and blacktip sharks move hundreds and hundreds of kilometers. But others like the blue shark, the whale shark and the great white shark are real wanderers! They move thousands and thousands of kilometers, sometimes crossing entire oceans!
A few years ago, I discovered through my research that great white sharks can cross the entire Indian Ocean from South Africa to Australia in just 3 months time!
