You might already know about how bears go into a deep sleep for winter, resting in a way that allows them to use up less energy until spring brings back a plentiful supply of food! But what about panda bears? Do they sleep through winter too??
If you guessed that the Giant Panda might have different winter habits, then you were right! Instead of going into a deep sleep for the winter, Giant Pandas make their way to areas with lower elevation where they can find food more easily and the temperature is warmer. If you’re wondering what kind of food they find and eat, 99% of the time, the answer is bamboo! The Giant Panda almost exclusively eats bamboo, with other foods like grasses or insects making their way onto the menu only occasionally. – Cool!

In order to consume so much of it, they spend about half the day eating!Although an adult Giant Panda usually weighs around 220-250lbs, the babies are much smaller at birth – only about 3-5 ounces!!What other neat things have you learned about pandas? -
